WRITING
Writing focuses on nonprofit coverage such as an Ohio county in need of volunteer court advocates for youth in foster care and a mother’s purpose to educate others about human trafficking. Here’s an except from that story:
Carolyn Kinkoph spends her off-time fighting to end human trafficking. She lost her 29-year-old daughter, Courtney, in Cleveland on Feb. 7, 2022, after she was the victim of trafficking.
“She could survive being trafficked all over the country but couldn’t survive and she passed away seven miles from where I work,” Kinkoph said. Continue reading her story here.

My work at Ideastream Public Media included coverage on the Amish community. I built my reporting from scratch while spending a year gaining trust with sources. David Kline is an Amish bishop. He generously welcomed me and my microphone into his home. You can listen to his story here about how he overcame a stutter. Along with recording sound, I edited this feature and wrote the script for it just like this one about an Amish farmer.

My video work at Ideastream Public Media included writing script, shooting and editing videos for the arts & culture show Applause. I met Emily Nulph during an art class. She struggles with bipolar disorder and has found healing through painting. This video was nominated for a Great Lakes Emmy Award.
